Surprising speculation! According to this Arkansas news organization, the Second Congressional District seat that will be vacated by retiring Dem Vic Synder may get some four-star interest: “„There is chatter in Democratic circles about possible interest from Wesley Clarkas a candidate for retiring Democrat Vic Snyder’scongressional seat.
Clark, a Democrat, is a Little Rock native and has kept his profile high in state through a number of good causes. As a former NATO Supreme Commander and through his post-military analyst work, he has instant credibility on foreign affairs.
He’s bolstered his domestic agenda credentials in his former Presidential run and through work with groups on health care reform and climate change. **Clark **would bring a national, if not international, fundraising apparatus to a House run. He’d also be capable of resurrecting a volunteer base in central Arkansas where he maintained a headquarters when he ran for President.
Clark and President Obama don’t have a close relationship. But Clark’s entrance into the race might be very welcome to a White House reeling from a spate of seemingly endless bad political news.
Update, 3:03 p.m.: Ben Smith gets confirmationfrom a Clark spokesman that the general is entertaining the notion of running.
