Last weekit was Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska) who blocked legislation to hike the oil industry’s liability for economic damages following spills. Today, it was Sen. Jim Inhofe (R-Okla.) doing the same.
“We need to increase the caps,” Inhofe said on the Senate floor this morning. “[But] we don’t know just how high that should be.”
Meanwhile, as BP executives are downplayingthe threat posed by the Deepwater Horizon catastrophe, thousands of barrels of oil and gas continue to gush from the damaged well head — though no one seems to knowthe true number.
