Blogging Live From McCain’s Backyard

While as my lucky TWI colleague Ari Melber reports live from the presidential debatein Oxford, Miss., I’m happy to report that I will be chiming in periodically LIVE…from Arizona State University in Tempe. That’s right! TWI has its collective finger on the pulse of the youth of America! Or at the very least, the youth of Arizona.
Actually, I had hoped to be blogging from the McCain-Palin Victory ‘08 Arizona headquarters in downtown Phoenix. But, displaying the trademark warmth for the press that we’ve come to know and expect, the local McCain campaign informed me that I would be welcome to join their debate-watching and sign-making party — but not until half an hour after it started. Obviously, that wouldn’t really work.
Hence, I am here, with the good students of ASU. The Young Democrats are here. The College Republicans are setting up a table. There is a small but growing crowd, and there appears to be, as I type, more pizzas on a table in the corner of the room than there are people here. But more people are trickling in I’ll work the crowd and try to drum up some reactions. Maybe there’s even an undecided voter. Who knows? I just got here, but if there is one, I will find him or her and find out what he or she is thinking. Stay tuned…
