Just 44 percent of Americans support an expansion of offshore oil drilling, according to a new Fox News poll— down from 54 percent three weeks ago and 70 percent in early April, before the Deepwater Horizon oil rig exploded and sent 25,000 barrels of oil a daygushing into the Gulf of Mexico.
Likewise, opposition to increased drilling now stands at 48 percent, compared to 38 percent in mid-May and 22 percent in early April.
Any chance that Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) will reconsider his “no” vote on climate legislation, based ostensibly on opposition to provisions that restrict drilling, now that he’s in the minority? Don’t hold your breath.
