As Matt points out, President George W. Bush announcedhe wants to see the U.S. start drilling in the Outer Continental Shelf and exploring the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, ANWR. Bush’s press conference comes one day after McCain laid out the same plan, which contradicted the presidential hopeful’s earlier statements that he did not support such drilling.
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid hit back right today. From Reid’sstatement:
"This week’s flip-flop on offshore oil drilling by President Bush and Senator John McCain is nothing more than a cynical campaign ploy that will do nothing to lower energy prices, and represents another big giveaway to oil companies already making billions in profits."
As Sridhar caught on video, Presidential rival Sen. Barack Obama broke fromMcCain’s new position.
Environmentalists are keeping their fingers crossed that McCain will change his mind again.
