House Passes Amendment Exempting Some Drillers From Moratorium

The House just approved an amendment to an oil spill response bill that would exempt drilling companies from an Obama administration moratorium on deepwater drilling if they comply with Interior Department safety regulations. The proposal retains some Interior Department discretion. The amendment was proposed by Rep. Charlie Melancon (D-La.)
The House is moving toward passage of the oil spill response bill. More to come.
