The House might create a new border security bill to address jurisdictional issues over the $600 million border security bill passed by the Senate last week, leadership aides confirmed to TWI. The Senate’s bill is fully paid forthrough increases to visa fees for companies that help obtain visas for temporary skilled workers. But because revenue measures must originate in the House, leaders were concerned that the fee increases violate the Constitution.
House leadership could decideto send the bill back to the Senate with no action, but instead will likely choose to start the process over with a new bill, aides said.
