The Washington Post reported todaythat a new report by the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute that says there is a plume of oil in the Gulf of Mexico that stretches 21 miles from the Macondo well.
The report is the latest bit of informationthat contradicts a report by the Obama administration that said that nearly 75 percent of the oil spilled into the Gulf has been captured, was mitigated with dispersants or evaporated naturally. At the same time, The Hill noted today, an official from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration said that nearly three-quarters of the oil spilled into the Gulf is still there.
