The Natural Resources Defense Council took out a two-page advertisementin a local newspaper in Martha’s Vineyard, where President Obama arrived today for a 10-day vacation, pleading with the president to combat attempts to block the administration from regulating greenhouse gas emissions under the Clean Air Act.
Environmentalists have turned to the Clean Air Act amid ongoing frustration with Congress. While the House passed a climate change bill last year, it appears unlikely that the Senate will be able to pass such legislation this year. But attempts to use the Clean Air Act to regulate greenhouse gas emissions are facing intense objections from many Republicans and industry groups. The ad asks Obama to, “Help us stop the attacks on the Clean Air Act.”
