The Houston Chronicle reported today that BP identified in September of last year dozens of concerns with the Deepwater Horizon rig, the rig that exploded and led to the Gulf oil spill. The Chronicle noted that it’s unclear whether those issues were addressed before the rig exploded in April.
“„Eleven of those items were outside BP’s own standards, while 54 conflicted with legislative standards and codes set by rig owner Transocean and the American Petroleum Institute, said Jason Mathews, a representative of the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management, Regulation and Enforcement, or BOEMRE.
