It seems likely that Democrats might push for the expiry of the cuts on households making more than $250,000 a year and individuals making more than $200,000 a year — about two percent of tax filers. But without centristslike Sen. Ben Nelson (D-Neb.) on board, a two-year extension of the tax cuts for all seems the most likely path forward. Congress needs to act before the end of the year, or else all tax cuts expire and revert to 2000 rates.
