Amount of fentanyl seized in US in 2022 enough to kill every American, as per the report of the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA). The DEA said they were able to stop 379 million potentially lethal doses of fentanyl, which is only two milligrams.
According to the DEA administrator, Anne Milgram:
These seizures – enough deadly doses of fentanyl to kill every American – reflect DEA’s unwavering commitment to protect Americans and save lives by tenaciously pursuing those responsible for the trafficking of fentanyl across the United States.- DEA administrator, Anne Milgram
The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) referred to the extremely addictive substance as the worst drug threat that the United States is currently facing. The majority of the fentanyl is brought into the United States from Mexico.
The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) claims that it was able to seize more than 10,000 pounds (4,500 kilograms) of fentanyl as well as more than 50.6m fentanyl pills that were made to seem like various prescription medications. That is more than twice as much as they took in back in the year 2021.
According to the FBI, the majority of the drugs were manufactured in secret factories located in Mexico by the Sinaloa and Jalisco drug gangs. These factories used ingredients that were purchased from China.
Fentanyl is an opioid that is anywhere from 1.5 times up to 50 times more powerful than heroin. It may make it difficult for the person to breathe normally. Because of the potency of the drug, the necessary amount to cause death can be contained at the very end of a pencil.
More than 100,000 people in the United States passed away as a result of drug overdoses in 2017, with fentanyl being responsible for two-thirds of those deaths. According to the narcotics department, the amount of fentanyl that was collected this year was sufficient to kill all 330 million people living in the United States.
DEA's top operational priority is to defeat the two Mexican drug cartels - the Sinaloa and Jalisco (CJNG) Cartels - that are primarily responsible for the fentanyl that is killing Americans today.- DEA Administrator Anne Milgram
“Never take a pill that wasn’t prescribed directly to you,” Milgram warned. “Never take a pill from a friend. Never take a pill bought on social media. Just one pill is dangerous and one pill can kill.”

Conclusion

In addition to the fentanyl, the DEA was successful in seizing more than 131,000 pounds of methamphetamine, more than 4,300 pounds of heroin, and more than 444,000 pounds of cocaine.
