In Houston, Texas, she lived most of her early years with her parents after they relocated there when she was just a year old. Bridget is her younger sister, and Patrick is her older brother. Her family relocated to Woking, England, in 1997. When she arrived in England, Emmy signed up for TASIS, where she studied.
