There are traditionally three levels of course, each of which builds on the previous and defines a distinct, specialized scope of practice. Daily hands-on Reiki self-treatment remains the cornerstone of practice at all levels.
Three Levels Of Reiki
- The first degree is typically taught over eight to twelve hours. Students use Reiki for self-care and to exchange Reiki with one another. Students will learn how to give themselves daily Reiki for the rest of their lives in this workshop. Students learn how to share Reiki with family and friends in full or brief chair sessions, as well as how to deliver Reiki in acute situations and through informal "spot therapy." Second-degree treatments can also be used in conjunction with hands-on treatment.
- The third level is Reiki master. The Reiki master level of training was previously only offered by invitation. This offer was made only to experienced students who were willing to devote their lives to teaching others how to use Reiki. Rather than taking a course, master training has traditionally been completed through an extended apprenticeship with a Reiki master. Only Reiki Masters are authorized to teach Reiki to others.
