Late last year, The Real Deal revealed that Gabe Plotkinhad bought two adjacent beach properties in Miami. Gabe Plotkin is a US-based, self-made billionaire. According to sources, Gabe struck it rich in 2014 with about $925 million. Plotkin’s assets stand at $13 billion today.
"I've known Gabe Plotkin since 2006, and he is an exceptional investor and leader," said Steve Cohen.
Gabe is also an investor in Charlotte's Hornets ownership group.Plotkin now joins the few millionaires and billionaires who've closed on high-end Miami properties recently. Some of his neighbors include Rande Gerber, Cindy Crawford, Dan Loeb (billionaire hedge fund manager), Josh Kushner, and Kalie Kloss. The billionaire co-owner of the Hornets alongside basketball legend, co-owner, and General Manager of the basketball club Michael Jordan paid 44 million dollars for luxury waterfront properties at 6342 and 6360 Northbay Road, Miami. The Miami properties belonged to John Simonian, owner of Westime, a luxury watch store. John sold the mansion and an adjacent house in November 2020. However, details of the million-dollar transaction came into the limelight a week later. After all, development applications must reveal the owner of the property. So, the applications disclosed Gabe Plotkinas the owner of the Miami Beach properties. According to property records, 6360 Northbay Road is a 12,641 square-foot mansion. It was built in 2018. The beach home comprises nine bedrooms, twelve full bathrooms, four half bathrooms, and a guesthouse. Besides, it also includes a dock (with about 114 feet of waterfront) plus a pool. The home sold for $32 million.
The other beach property at 6342 Northbay Road was built in 1935 on a 24,407 square-foot lot. The home comprises four bedrooms and four bathrooms. It sold for $12 million after being advertised as a teardown property.
Gabe's desire for a dream home has seen him apply for renovation approval from the Miami Beach Design Review Board. He intends to retain the 6360 Northbay Road property. However, plans are underway to have the older 6342 Northbay Road house knocked down. In its place, Plotkin intends to construct a mini-sports facility where the house stood including a lighted tennis court, playground, a half-sized basketball court, and a covered cabana.
