When was the last time you put your own health and wellbeing first? Maybe it’s been so long you can’t remember, and for a lot of people, that’s exactly the case - especially if they have others to take care of as well. The problem is that although it might feel selfish to put yourself first sometimes if you don’t do it, you’ll burn out and become sick (mentally and physically), meaning you have to take time off work, away from your family, and so on.
It’s actually best to put your wellbeing first to ensure you’re functioning as the best version of yourself and you’re able to take the best care of those around you, but it’s a hard thing to do and a hard habit to get into. It’s not impossible, though, and here are some tips to help you prioritize yourself when you need to.

Exercise Regularly

It’s true that the idea of exercising doesn’t appeal to everyone, especially when you likely have a long list of other things you have to do and finding the time to work out isn’t going to be easy, but if you want to be healthy and happy, regular exercise is key.
The good news is that once you start exercising, your body releases endorphins which actually boost your mood and help you to enjoy working out or playing sports a lot more. Of course, it’s getting started that’s the difficult part, but if you find something you enjoy doing and if you can get friends and family involved, it might become easier for you. You only need ten to 15 minutes of good exercise a day as well, so finding the time should be easy enough.

Don’t Eat Rubbish

When you’re in a rush, what do you do? Do you grab a quick snack on the run and eat it while you’re working? Do you skip lunch(and sometimes other meals as well) altogether? Do you eat lots of takeout or processed food because it’s easier? If you do, you’re not putting your health first, and it’s time to stop.
Eating is something we all have to do, and if you can do it well, your health will improve, you’ll have better energy levels, and you’ll be more focused and productive, meaning you can get more done in a shorter amount of time. Try setting time aside to eat three meals a day to start with, and gradually make those meals healthier as time goes on. It won’t take long before you’re reaping the benefits of not eating rubbish.

Ask For Help

As much as you might like the idea of doing everything by yourself, sometimes it’s just not possible - sometimes you need help. If that’s the case, don’t be afraid to ask for it because it could be exactly what you need to get back on track again.
It could be that asking for help from family and friends is what’s needed to reduce your burden and be enough for you, but you might need professional help as well, perhaps from a doctor, a therapist, or a personal injury attorneyif you’ve been hurt and you’re having trouble working or taking care of things. No matter what or who you need help from, asking is the first step, and it will always lead to better things.
