The Report

It has been about a week since Rolling Stone announced that he would be participating in the event; however, at the time of that announcement, it was unknown what role he would play in the event.
He joined a long list of celebrities who have made cameo appearances, including the likes of Angela Aguilar, Avani Gregg, Bella Poarch, Cara Delevingne, Damson Idris, Irina Shayk, Joan Smalls, Kornbread, Lara Stone, Lilly Singh, Marsai Martin, and Precious Lee.
He also joined the ranks of other cameo performers. The casting of Johnny Depp, who was accused by his ex-wife Amber Heard and recently won a defamation suit against her, caused some outrage among Rihanna's fans as well as fans of the lingerie line.
Amber Heard accused Depp of having an affair with her while he was married to Johnny Depp. Even Olly Alexander of Years & Years, who had previously modeled for the brand, felt the need to distance himself from the company because of it.
The headline-making trial that actor Johnny Depp and his ex-wife Amber Heard were involved in earlier this year is the root of the controversy that surrounds Depp.
After he sued her for defamation in response to an opinion piece that she wrote for the Washington Post in 2018 in which she accused him of domestic violence, Depp was awarded $10 million in damages.
After being booked to be the headliner of the Super Bowl 57 halftime show and releasing "Lift Me Up," her first single in six years, which reached No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100, the Savage X Fenty show takes place during a comeback for Rihanna.
As for Depp, this is not the first time that Depp has made an appearance at a major event despite the fact that no one asked for it.
Late in the month of August, the face of the actor was seen inside the headgear of a moon person that was suspended above the stage during the MTV Video Music Awards.
Are you kidding? Depp wrote on Instagram, where he also shared a photo documenting the event on his account. Throughout the course of the show, Depp's face was shown multiple times.

The Johnny Depp Controversy

Johnny Depp sued Amber Heard for defamation in 2018 after she published an op-ed in the Washington Post.
I spoke out against sexual violence and faced our culture's wrath, the op-ed headlined. That must change. Heard never mentions Depp by name, but she describes herself as "a public figure representing domestic abuse."
Depp and his lawyers argued, and a judge agreed, that Heard clearly implies that Depp abused her during their year-long marriage.
Depp's talent, beauty, and charisma have been admired by the culture for decades, and that admiration hasn't stopped.
Fans of Depp have a strong emotional attachment to him, and many of them are eager to seize on any apparent murkiness in this case as evidence of Depp's innocence. There are a lot of uncertainties in a trial this complicated.
The inability to handle the ambiguities is ultimately perhaps what's most damning about the larger conversation surrounding this trial.
Our culture appears unable to accept that we may simply be viewing a story without heroes when presented with a portrait of a relationship in which there is convincing evidence of violence and toxic behavior on both sides.
We demand a neat story with a heroic redemption arc instead, and it's even better if the hero is a well-liked, charismatic, and strong white man.
It's challenging to imagine Depp's reputation fully bouncing back after his recent spate of lawsuits. Hollywood had plenty of excuses to carry on as usual even after Heard accused him of domestic abuse, as it did with Depp up until he took the argument to court.
After all, he wasn't let go from Fantastic Beasts until after his UK case went against him. It is uncertain whether a victory in the US legal system will completely restore his reputation. And Heard, who has less of a solid reputation to shield her, may be even more in danger.
But if this case demonstrated anything, it would be that Johnny Depp is still a star and still able to hold the country's attention. And perhaps that's enough for a movie star whose star is fading quickly.

Final Words

After the first episode of the show aired, a number of people took to social media to express their dissatisfaction with Depp's casting by using the hashtag #AbuserxFenty. On the other hand, fans of the actor rushed to his defense and were excited about his appearance on the show.
