One current and ten former staffers of the popular daytime talk show provided interviews to Rolling Stonefor a shocking exposé that was released on Friday in an effort to reveal the supposedly toxic workplace atmosphere.
According to the employees, Kelly Clarkson Show is a toxic workplace. The employees said that producers frequently "bullied and intimidated" them, which had an adverse effect on their mental health.

Numerous current and former cast members of the show spoke out in a Rolling Stone piece to describe a toxic, emotionally abusive workplace atmosphere that the network has neglected to fully address. According to these workers, executive producer Alex Duda, who one former worker has referred to as "a monster" who "yelled and cursed" at staff and encouraged a culture of producers beneath her doing the same, is the root of patterns of inappropriate workplace behavior.
The production manager for the show reportedly frequently engaged in "cursing, raising his voice, and throwing a huge temper tantrum," including one instance in which he tossed a stapler across the office, according to one employee.
“I remember going up on the roof of the stage to cry, being like, ‘Oh, my gosh, what am I doing? Why am I putting myself through this?’”One former employee, who like the others spoke to the magazine on the condition of anonymity for fear of retaliation, remembered.
Another ex-employee informed the media that they had to visit a psychiatrist for the first time in their lives because they "truly couldn't handle it mentally."
The former employee referred to her time spent working on "The Kelly Clarkson Show" as “far the worst experience I’ve ever had in my entire life,”and she added, "It deterred me from wanting to work in daytime ever again. When I say I was traumatized, I was really traumatized.”
In addition to the alleged mental stress, some staff members claimed that the show didn't even pay them enough for them to be able to survive off of their income.
The staff made it clear in their accusations that Kelly Clarkson was unaware of the hostile work environment and that their problems with the show had nothing to do with her personally. “Kelly is fantastic. She is a person who never treats anyone with anything but dignity and is incredibly appreciative,”one employee said. “I would be shocked if she knew. I’d be floored if she knew the staff wasn’t getting paid for two weeks of Christmas hiatus. The Kelly that I interacted with and that everyone knows would probably be pretty aghast to learn that.”
The Writers Guild of America is also looking into the program, which is now in its fourth season and has been renewed through its sixth season in 2025. Emails received by Rolling Stone claim that episodes of the unionized show were written by producers, which is against the terms of the contract.
New episodes were supposed to be recorded until May 20, according to a current employee of the show, but because of the ongoing strike, staff members think it's doubtful that the current season will be finished. (The outlet's request for comment from the WGA was not immediately filled.)

When issues are reported they are promptly reviewed, investigated and acted upon as appropriate.
