Kevin Costner breaks silenceon divorce after child support win for the first time with Christine Baumgartner. The two had been married for 18 years before they filed for divorce in May. Since then, they have been fighting in court. Now, a judge has cut Baumgartner's child support payment to $63,000 per month.
This is less than half of what she was getting each month before, which was $129,000, and almost $100,000 less than what she was asking for in court, which was $161,000. The decision was made after two days of meetings, during which both sides said what they thought was a fair amount. Costner said that the court battle had ended with "no winners." The Yellowstone star told Access Hollywoodafter his child support win on Friday. The actor, 68, said outside of the courtroom.
This is a horrible place to be, but this is where we're at. It feels so bad. We’re talking about somebody I love on the other side. I just can't.- Kevin Costner

Baumgartner's lawyer said Costner made more money than he said, and Costner joked, "We'll have to go on a treasure hunt to find it." Since Christine asked for a divorce in May, Friday's comments were his first open admission about the breakup. Kevin went to court to get her to pay child support. He said she was seeing his close friend Josh Connor, who she went on vacation with in July. During the last part of the meeting, Costner testified that he didn't want an "inflated" amount of child support to force him to work on projects he didn't want to do. He told the court,
I want to help but the thought of having things inflated to the point I can't do what I want to do…Somehow in this unusual world, we didn't make it and for that, I'm sorry.- Kevin Costner
He said that his world had been "shaken up" by the divorce. This means that he had to deal with a lot of things because of the "seismic change."
There’s a few responsibilities I can’t run away from. Mostly what I have to do is figure out how to spend more time with the children and help walk them through this… spend a little time with myself.- Kevin Costner
He has now talked about the final ruling in public, saying that there was "no winner" in their case. Costner's statement came after a morning of arguing about numbers and whether the actor's tax obligations had been taken into account or not.
At one point, the actor was seen nodding in agreement when his lawyer, Susan Wiesner, got forensic accountant Jill Bombino to agree that his tax payments had not been taken out of her numbers.
Rydell said that was because Costner didn't give his wife's team his tax reports. Her team says that his fees from the Paramount show should be counted as part of his total income. His team, on the other hand, says that they shouldn't be counted because the money came from the past and won't come in the future.
Costner was casual on the stand, often making jokes that made people laugh. However, when the talk went to how much money he has made from Yellowstone, he became serious.
Baumgartner's lawyers said that her $40,000-a-month home was "not comparable" to Costner's $73 million beachfront house. They said that the kids should spend time at the beach house she wanted to rent for $150,000 a month when her lease was up.
One of their claims was that Baumgartner's property was not as nice as the family house because it didn't have a view of the ocean. Before they got married, they signed a contract that said Baumgartner would get $1.5 million, which she had already gotten. There will be another meeting in November.
Kevin Costner and Christine Baumgartner have been married since September 25, 2004, 18 years later, they filed their divorce. Christine Baumgartner is a model and handbag designer. The couple's wedding took place in a picturesque ceremony in Aspen, Colorado. Together, Kevin Costner and Christine Baumgartner have three children: Cayden Wyatt Costner, who was born in 2007, Hayes Logan Costner, born in 2009, and Grace Avery Costner, born in 2010.
