Boom Supersonic Overture Vs Boom Concorde Plane

The Overture aircraft, dubbed the "son of Concorde," will be twice as fast as current airplanes and be able to transport 65 to 80 business class passengers.
Since the project started in 2017, there have been 51 changes to the design of the Boom Supersonic Overture plane.
It will fly at speeds of 2,100km/h (Mach 1.7), which is comparable to the Concorde's top speed.
According to the corporation, flights from New York to London would take just 3–3.5 hours, and those from Los Angeles to Sydney would take a little over 8 hours.
Boom says that the plane would fly at 1.7 Mach over water and just under 1 Mach over land, and it would only use fuel made from sustainable sources.
The president and chief business officer of Boom Supersonic, Kathy Savitt, told Reuters at the Farnborough Airshow,
"Because of some of the perceptions of Concorde that came before us as an aircraft that, while beautiful in design and super fast, was neither sustainable environmentally or economically."
The original three engines have been replaced with four smaller ones, and a ground-breaking "automatic noise reduction system" is expected to make the aircraft quieter.
The "gull wings" are meant to make the plane faster and more stable, and the new fuselage, which has a bigger front and a smaller back, should reduce drag.
"Aviation has not seen a giant leap in decades. Overture is revolutionary in its design, and it will fundamentally change how we think about distance," said Boom Founder and CEO Blake Scholl.
"With more than 600 routes across the globe, Overture will make the world dramatically more accessible for tens of millions of passengers."

Savitt says that speed was one of the three main design goals from the start of the program.
The other two were safety and, most importantly, sustainability.
"And what we mean by sustainability is that we have to be able to operate this aircraft or allow our operators to run Overture at net zero carbon, reduce the noise levels that you saw on Concorde as well as for Boom itself to be net zero carbon, which we will be by 2025 as an organisation".
When sailing at 60,000 feet, the in-flight experience will be unique as well, providing head-up data displays in the windows and a glimpse of the stars through the moon roof (18,288m).
The business plans to launch its first flight in 2026.
They want to start doing commercial flights in 2029, subject to certification.

American Airlines revealed on Tuesday (16 August, 2022) that it has made a deposit on a fleet of supersonic aircraft, by which you can travel from New York to London in 3 hours: Supersonic Air Travel.
The biggest airline in the world put down a deposit that can't be taken back on 20 Overture supersonic planes from Boom Supersonic.
Boom, which is still years away from producing its first commercial aircraft, has received a second firm order in the past two years.
United Airlines committed to purchasing 15 Overture aircraft last year.
According to Boom CEO Blake Scholl,
Passengers want flights that are faster, more convenient, more sustainable and that’s what Overture delivers.
Flight times can be as little as half as what we have today, and that works great in networks like American where we can fly Miami to London in less than five hours.
Boom aims to finish the Overture aircraft's full design by 2025, and the first passenger flights are expected to begin in 2029.
According to Boom, the Overture jet will travel at 1,304 mph, or Mach 1.7, drastically reducing transatlantic and transpacific flying durations.
For instance, according to Boom, an Overture could cut the typical 10-hour trip time between Seattle and Tokyo to six hours.

Derek Kerr, the chief financial officer of American Airlines, said in a statement that,
Looking to the future, supersonic travel will be an important part of our ability to deliver for our customers.
Boom is receiving an undisclosed sum from American Airlines as a non-refundable deposit.
The airline also has the option to buy up to 40 more Overtures in the future.
Boom says that its supersonic planes will be able to carry 65 to 80 people and use fuel that is sustainable and has low emissions.
Overture won't materialize for several more years.
Boom hopes to introduce the first model of the jet in 2025, with the first flight taking place in 2026 at a new production facility in North Carolina where the jet will be produced.
According to Boom, by the end of the decade, the Overture will be in commercial service should the flight tests and certification procedures go according to plan.
Although United Airlines also put down a deposit for 15 of the supersonic aircraft in 2021, neither American Airlines nor Boom disclosed the amount of the deposit made by the airline.
At the time, United likened the estimated cost of the Overture aircraft to the $248 million (£205 million) to $338 million range for a Boeing 787 Dreamliner.
According to Boom, the Overture aircraft can travel 4,250 nautical miles and carry up to 80 passengers at a cruising speed of Mach 1.7, or 1.7 times the speed of sound.
The Concorde, the final supersonic airliner to fly in regular service, could traverse the Atlantic from London to New York in a little under three hours and flew at a Mach 2.04 speed.
Both the Concorde and the Overture will fly over water because it would be very disruptive for supersonic planes to fly over populated areas.
Miami to London would take about five hours, and Los Angeles to Honolulu would take three.
Boom thinks that trips on the Overture will be more affordable than those on the Concorde, which ran from 1976 to 2003.
According to Boom CEO Blake Scholl, tickets may cost between $4,000 and $5,000.
He has previously stated that his business hoped to one day offer $100 round-trip flights for passengers.
At 2021 prices, Concorde tickets would cost about $13,000.
The Boom has created a small, two-seat test plane dubbed the XB-1 that might start conducting tests in late 2022, albeit the Overture is still only a concept on paper.
