Paul Rudd Owns A Candy Store Together With Jeffrey Dean Morgan
What do the Walking Dead's Jeffery Dean Morgan and Hollywood hunk Paul Rudd have in common? They're both actors. Surprisingly, the two of them co-own a confectionery business in Rhinebeck, New York, with their spouses, Hilarie Burton, a former One Tree Hill actress, and Julie Rudd, who also co-owns the store. An abandoned confectionery business was given a new lease of life by actors Paul Rudd and Jeffrey Dean Morgan when its owner passed away.
Samuel's Sweet Shop, a sweets and coffee shop in Rhinebeck owned by celebrities, is the perfect place to satisfy your sweet tooth needs. Samuel's is owned by actors Paul Ruddand Jeffrey Dean Morgan, as well as actress Hilarie Burton, and is located in Los Angeles, California. This candy business is not just well-known due of its famous proprietors, but also because of the deliciousness of all of their confections. On their website, Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Hilarie Burton state that they have relocated to Rhinebeck and have taken an interest in Samuel's of Rhinebeck. When the couple learned that Samuel's was on the verge of shutting, they rallied to preserve the business.
Paul Rudd and his wife, Julie, helped the newlyweds in changing Samuel's into Samuel's Sweet Shop, which they named after themselves. Today, the business continues to be a famous tourist destination in Rhinebeck, attracting both visitors and locals. The candy store serves a wide variety of sweets, ranging from chocolate to baked pastries and everything in between. Paul Rudd & Jeffrey Dean Morgan's Samuel's Sweet Shop Location
A confectionery boutique with a touch of old-world elegance, Samuel's Sweet Shop, just celebrated its 25th anniversary. It was almost impossible to keep the business open after its owner, Ira Gutner, passed away in 2014. The shop has been a vital part of the Rhinebeck community for decades and was nearly closed in 2014.
It was Paul Rudd, Jeffery Dean Morgan, and their wives, Hilarie Burton and Julie Rudd, who made the decision to purchase the business in order to keep it in its original condition as a present to themselves and the surrounding community. As reported by USA Today, they had been coming here for years, just like so many others in the region, and couldn't bear the prospect of the institution closing down.
This specific investment into a confectionery business by the stars of the television shows "Avengers," "Walking Dead," and "One Tree Hill" appeared out of place given their reputation for making lavish investments. It was, on the other hand, a highly personal decision for them. Mr. Rudd and Mr. Jeffery Morgan are heavily involved with the candy business, with the former even helping at the register on a regular basis. Among other things, the business offers candy, cakes, and pastries to its customers. Rudd feels that it is critical to experience a sense of belonging and to be a member of the community.
"Being a part of a community and feeling linked to where you live and to other people who live there is one of the most essential things any person can experience," Rudd said. "This is especially true in a position like mine where you have to interact with people every day." Rudd and Jeffrey Dean Morgan both have residences in the Rhinebeck, New York, area. Morgan has always felt at ease in Rhinebeck, which he refers to as "our town," according to him.
"It's the first time in my whole adult life that I've truly felt at ease. It's a blend of the people and the surrounding landscape. In comparison to my 20 years in Los Angeles, when I didn't even know my neighbors, here has a distinct feel "Morgan expressed himself. Despite the fact that the sweet store has the support of well-known movie stars, the majority of the administration is made up of locals. John Traver, who began working for Gutner when he was 15 years old, is now in charge of the business. The company continued to function in the wake of Ira's passing. "It was only able to continue operating because of a lot of hard effort and good fortune," Traver explained.
So, who was Samuel, exactly? Gutner's uncle was named Samuel. Gutner, his father, and his uncle Sam used to go to New York Giants games at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx when they were children. Traver said that the trio would travel to Pot Roast Sadie's, which was a combination deli and penny candy store, as part of their pre-game routine on game day. Gutner developed a passion for sweets shops as a result of this incident, according to Traver. Gutner went on to work in the garment industry in New York City when he was an adult.
Rhinebeck was discovered by him in 1993, and he discovered a vacuum where he had hoped to locate a confectionery store. It was this experience that inspired him to start Samuel's and name it after his uncle. Traver came into the scene and, as time went on, he began to assume greater responsibilities. After graduating from Rhinebeck High School in 2004, he went on to attend Union College in Schenectady, while continuing to work at Samuel's on weekends and during breaks from school. Working in the financial world or becoming a teacher were two options that crossed his mind.
Nevertheless, after graduating with a double degree in Economics and English in 2008, he returned to Rhinebeck and Samuel's in 2009. Gutner informed Traver that he was seeking for someone to take over for him as the company's president and eventually take over the company. John Traver recounted that his father used to tell him, "This store is going to be yours eventually."
"I was like, 'Wait, what?'" 'Do I have a chance of winning the lottery?' We needed to pay our debts." He did, however, accept the position of manager. The goal, Traver explained, was for her to "take as much responsibility as possible."
"I also wanted to take on as much responsibility as I possibly could." I placed an order for everything. Everything was delivered to me. I took care of the bills. I made the simple phone calls as well as the difficult phone calls. I was in charge of hiring and firing. "I was in charge of everything."

"I didn't have the resources to take on this," he said. Traver received word from Morgan and Burton at that point. According to Traver, Burton informed him that she and Morgan, as well as the Rudds, Ostroy, and Jonas, were interested in assisting. The following is what Traver claims Burton instructed him: "Whatever you do, don't close the shop - stick with it."
Samuel's was acquired by the Morgans, the Rudds, Ostroy, and Jonas in December of that year. Traver joined the company as a partner. "There was success in the midst of sadness," Traver stated emphatically. "I'd lost touch with a pal. Fortunately, some very wonderful individuals stepped up to assist me and preserve the local candy store, and now I have the tremendous chance to make this establishment the most successful it can possibly be, which is fantastic. It's fantastic."
In an interview with the Poughkeepsie Journal, Paul Rudd stated that being a member of a community and feeling connected to where you live and to other people who live there is "one of the most significant things any person can experience,", especially while working in a profession like his.
Despite the fact that the shop's name has been changed to Samuel's Sweet Shop by its new owners, little else has altered. The only thing that distinguishes Paul Rudd from the rest is that he occasionally serves coffee or engages in conversation with customers while working behind the cash register.
