Scooter Braun Shakeup: Stars Cut Ties With Powerhouse Music Manager

Scooter Braun, one of the biggest music managers in the world, didn't seem upset when news came out this week that two of his biggest clients had left him. It was said this week that Demi Lovato, a pop star, and Idina Menzel, a singer, actor, and West End star, had left Braun's SB projects. The Independent found out about this from people who know both acts.
There have been rumors that Ariana Grande and Justin Bieber, who have both worked with Braun since the release of their first albums, will also leave the 42-year-old's marketing services. But the people who work for Bieber and Braun denied that they were breaking up professionally.
Scooter Braun's latest statement didn't explain what was going on with all the drama. He just sent a tweet.
Breaking news… I’m no longer managing myself- Scooter Braun
The Hollywood Reporterwas the first to report on Tuesday (August 22) that Menzel had broken up with Braun. The news came from a source close to the Tony-winning star. Representatives for Menzel declined to say anything else about the story.
Even though Menzel, 52, is an actor, she is best known for her singing success. Her song "Let It Go," which was Elsa's theme song in the 2013 Disney smash hit Frozen, went nine times platinum. Menzel announced that she would be working with Braun in 2019 by sharing a picture of her and the manager taking a selfie in front of a Time Magazine sign.
Billboard said that last month, Lovato quietly fired Braun as her manager, and multiple sources told the outlet that she was looking for new management. Since 2019, Lovato and Braun have worked together. Reps for both Braun and Lovato refused to say anything.
One person close to the situation told Billboard, “It was time for Lovato to go in a new direction, even though she was thankful for her time with SB Projects. She does not yet have new management, though conversations are taking place.”
All of Scooter's clients are under contract and that talks have been going on for several months. This is because he will be taking on a "larger role" as CEO of HYBE America, the South Korean entertainment company behind K-pop superstars BTS.
Braun started SB Projects in 2007, and he quickly teamed up with a couple of rising singers. Braun found a YouTube video of a young Justin Bieber singing Ne-Yo's "So Sick." He had already found the rapper Asher Roth through social media. He was so pleased that he got in touch with Bieber's mother through members of the school board and persuaded her to let the Canadian teen meet with him. By the end of 2008, Braun and Usher had signed Bieber to their record label, Raymond Braun Media Group.
Braun also works with stars like Psy, Carly Rae Jepsen, Ava Max, David Guetta, Lil Dicky, and Kelly Rowland, in addition to Bieber. In 2013, he signed Ariana Grande to his record label, and in 2019, he started managing Demi Lovato.
Braun bought Big Machine Records in 2019 with a lot of money he had saved up. The $300 million deal gave him control of Taylor Swift's first five albums' worth of music. But he had gotten on the pop star's bad side before because he played a small part in her well-known fight with Kanye West, who was one of his clients.
In 2016, West released the song "Famous" with Braun. This was seven years after he famously cut off Swift's victory speech at the MTV Video Music Awards. The song and its video had sexual comments about Swift, which she said she never gave her permission for.
Braun sold Swift's catalog to a private company in November 2020. Swift quickly tweeted that she had started re-recording her songs so she could own the rights to the tapes. Many music fans think that the fight has hurt his image, so the recent departure from his company has gotten a lot of attention.

Conclusion

Ariana Grande, Justin Bieber, and Demi Lovato, three of Scooter Braun's biggest long-term clients, have all been in the news in the past few days because of their plans with him. Grande and Lovato have left him, but Bieber is still working with Braun for the time being, even though their relationship is said to be a bit confusing. Idina Menzel is the most recent big name to leave Scooter Braun's management company.
