Stephen Colbert wearing a blue coat After the Thanksgiving break, "The Late Show With Stephen Colbert" has been canceled for a week because Colbert needs to heal from surgery for a ruptured appendix. The news was posted on Monday on the official Threadspage for the CBS show. The post says: “„Sorry to say that I have to cancel our shows this week. I’m sure you’re thinking, ‘Turkey overdose, Steve? Gravy boat capsize?’ Actually, I’m recovering from surgery for a ruptured appendix. I’m grateful to my doctors for their care and to Evie and the kids for putting up with me. Going forward, all emails to my appendix will be handled by my pancreas.- The Late Show With Stephen Colbert
Monday night didn't have a show, but Colbert was set to come back with new episodes on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Stars like Barbra Streisand, Jennifer Garner, Baz Luhrmann, Patrick Stewart, bandleader Jon Batiste, and Kelsey Grammar were set to visit the week after Thanksgiving to promote his new version of "Frasier."
With all the breaks this year, "The Late Show" has had a lot of them. Because of the Writers Guild of America Strike, it wasn't shown for five months. It finished in late September. (At that time, Colbert, Seth Meyers, Jimmy Fallon, Jimmy Kimmel, and John Oliver, along with other late-night hosts, held a podcast and gave the money from it to their staff members who were out of work.) The show started up again in early October, but later that month, Colbert had to host one episode from home because he tested positive for COVID. The rest of the shows for the week were then canceled.
It's been about two and a half weeks since Colbert first said on X(formerly Twitter) that the show would be on hold while he recovered from COVID-19. “„I tested positive for COVID, but basically I'm feeling fine - grateful to be vaxxed and boosted. Thank you for the well wishes. This just proves that I will do anything to avoid interviewing Jason Bateman.- Stephen Colbert
Colbert's fellow late-night host Jimmy Kimmel said last week that he was taking a short break from his show because he had been diagnosed with COVID-19. In the past few months, Jimmy Fallon, Seth Meyers, and James Corden have all been diagnosed with COVID and had their shows pushed back.
Since 2015, Stephen has been the host of CBS's famous chat show, which has made him famous. Before, it was thought to be impossible because no one else would have tried to touch the show after David Letterman's 20-year breakup.
Stephen Colbert, the famous host of the talk show The Last Show, recently told his fans some bad news: all of the episodes that were supposed to air this week have been canceled. It was discovered that he had a ruptured appendix.
New shows of The Late Show were set to air on Tuesday night. Some of the people who were set to show up were Jennifer Garner, Baz Luhrmann, Sir Patrick Stewart, Barbra Streisand, and Kelsey Grammer. Jon Batiste, who was Colbert's first band leader and quit the show last year, was also set to return to the show on Wednesday as a musical guest and subject.
Because of a ruptured appendix, there have been no new shows of The Late Show in the last two months. In October, the show skipped a week of shows while Colbert got better with COVID-19. The Late Show was also off all summer because of the WGA strike.
