The charity has been a big part of their relationship, both when they were high-ranking members of the British royal family and after they said they would step down in 2020.
Harry put together the first Invictus Games in 2014, which was two years before he met the Suits actor. The goal was to raise money to help wounded, injured, or sick veterans while also giving them the chance to compete in sports like the Paralympics.
In addition to raising money, the Duke of Sussex wanted the games to inspire both veterans and people who had never been in the military.
He kept running the charity while he was dating Markle and after they got married in 2018. Due to COVID-19, the 2020 Invictus Games had to be moved, but the duke said in a May webinar that the games' spirit was still going strong.
“„
We’ve obviously not been in The Hague, but I’m so pleased we have been able to organize this virtual gathering when the games would have taken place themselves. This conversation is all about sharing the Invictus spirit, and it is even more relevant now as we are having to address new challenges and adapt our lives.- Prince Harry
The couple even made their wedding day about giving back. According to the royal family's website, they chose seven charities to give to because they "represent a range of issues that they are passionate about."
The Children's HIV Association (CHIVA), Crisis, Myna Mahila Foundation, Scotty's Little Soldiers, StreetGames, Surfers Against Sewage, and The Wilderness Foundation UK were some of the charities that received donations.
After their wedding, they kept working with groups like One Young World and World Vision that cared about the same things they did. Even though Harry and Meghan stopped doing their royal duties, they didn't stop helping people.
In fact, one of the first things the couple did after saying they were leaving and moving overseas was to start a charity called Archewell.
