Tom Hanks allegedly one of the targets of Paul Pelosi's attacker, according to a recent court hearing. In October, David DePape is accused of breaking into the home of US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi while she was out of town and beating her husband Paul with a hammer.
A police officer who talked to DePape the day of the attack said that he told the officer that there was "evil in Washington" and that he wanted to hurt Ms. Pelosi. He also said that the attacker stated that Hunter Biden, the son of President Joe Biden, Tom Hanks, and Gavin Newsom, the Democratic governor of California, were also on his "hit list."
For what happened on October 28, Mr. DePape is facing six charges, one of which is attempted murder. Last month, he said he was not guilty of all charges. At the end of Wednesday's nearly four-hour hearing, San Francisco Superior Court Judge Stephen Murphy said there was enough evidence for the trial to go forward.
Officers talked about what they did when Paul Pelosi was attacked at his family's home in a California city. Prosecutors say that the defendant wanted to take Mrs. Pelosi as a hostage, but she was in Washington DC at the time.
The 82-year-old Mr. Pelosi's emergency call was played for the court. KRON4 News said that the 911 recording showed that Mr. Pelosi did not know Mr. DePape.
"Do you know who the person is?" asked the dispatcher.
Mr. Pelosi said, "No, I don't know who he is."
Police Sgt. Kyle Cagney said in court that he got to the house just before Mr. DePape hit Mr. Pelosi on the head with the hammer, cracking his skull. The officer showed the court the weapon.
The court also saw footage from a police body camera where officers told the suspect to drop the hammer, but he said, "Uh, nope," and hit Mr. Pelosi with it. Sgt. Carla Hurley said in court that she talked to the suspect for more than an hour on the day he was taken into custody.
She told the court about what she said was Mr. DePape's "hit list," but she didn't say if police had any proof of such a plan. Mr. DePape was quoted by Sgt. Hurley as saying,
There is evil in Washington, what they did went so far beyond the campaign. It originates with Hillary [Clinton]. Honestly, day in day out, they are lying. They go from one crime to another crime to another crime.- Mr. DePape
Mr. DePape wore an orange prison jumpsuit to the court. Christine Pelosi, one of the Pelosis' five grown-up children, was also there.

Conclusion

Police have said that Mr. DePape told them he was on a "suicide mission" when he broke through the glass backdoor of the Pelosi home in the upscale neighborhood of Pacific Heights. On December 28, Mr. DePape will go back to court for a formal reading of the charges.
