There are only a few situations where a Reiki course could not be appropriate. However, there are a few exceptions. In this article, we will talk about some cases when not taking a reiki course.
A pregnant woman lying in a massage table while eyes are closed and receiving Reiki session If a person is suffering from depression or other psychiatric problems, such as schizophrenia, obtaining a Reiki attunement could significantly worsen their symptoms in the near term.
They should begin with many Reiki treatments until their condition stabilizes before seeking medical assistance, and I would also urge that they give their doctor permission to call the Reiki Master for more information. Asking a doctor if Reiki is safe isn't particularly useful because few doctors are familiar with the practice. Reiki Master and doctor would appear to be the ideal compromise, as they could handle any medical issues that emerged during their sessions.
Other medical issues may also necessitate extra care. Even though I've never had any issues with persons with high blood pressure, epilepsy, or pacemakers in my lessons, it's probably wise to seek medical counsel in the same way. To be safe, it's usually preferable to err on the side of caution due to the possibility that their symptoms could be temporarily exacerbated. Patients who have recently undergone major surgery or are recovering from a terrible illness face the same challenges.
The first thing I would do in any of these situations is to give them Reiki treatments until they are sure their health has improved. Even if there are no genuine dangers associated with Reiki as it always works for the greater good, there are still some hazards to consider. Being a Reiki Master is already a significant responsibility. Therefore it's best to be safe than sorry.
In some instances, people worry about how a Reiki attunement can affect their high medicine dosages due to how quickly toxins are flushed out afterward. Since Reiki works for the highest and greatest good, I have no reason to suppose that it would ever cleanse the body of drugs that genuinely aid the person. Again, I have not encountered any problems in this area.
Some people have found that they can lower the amount of medication they are taking after utilizing Reiki for a few weeks or months. Before doing this, please consult with your doctor and increase the frequency of your normal medical examinations, such as blood tests, to confirm that everything is going as planned.
Pregnancy is another topic frequently asked about. A few pregnant ladies I've attuned have had some discomfort due to their infants' increased activity during the attunement procedure, but this has never been a problem. Using Reiki while pregnant can positively impact both the expectant mother and her unborn child since she can use it to alleviate aches and pains, promote restfulness, relieve pain, and promote calm during childbirth. The mother's recovery and the baby's relaxation can be aided by the application of Reiki after birth.
As far as I know, the infant cannot opt-out of becoming attuned to Reiki. Thus care is warranted here based on ethical considerations rather than scientific ones. One method to clarify this issue is for the mother to take some time to "tune in" to her own and her baby's Higher Selves and ask permission; if it feels right, then go ahead.
Take care of yourself for a few days following the course since you could feel more emotional or vulnerable than normal or lose your temper more readily. Still, these effects usually only stay for a short time after the course has ended. If you have to return to work right away, schedule some quiet time after work and consider going to bed a little earlier than usual if you can.
