Anti-abortion group Radiance Foundation president goes after nonprofit research outlet

Anti-abortion group Radiance Foundation president goes after nonprofit research outlet

In a new blog post on LifeNews.com , the Radiance Foundation’s Ryan Bomberger goes after the Guttmacher Institute, calling it a “global pro-abortion extension” of Planned Parenthood that is “continually lavished with misleading credentials by mainstream media.” As Bomberger points out, Guttmacher is generally referred to as a “nonpartisan research group” by big-name media outlets, including ABC, NPR, CNN and The Washington Post . The Institute describes itself in similar terms and says it has the goal of “advancing sexual and reproductive health in the United States and worldwide through an interrelated program of social science research, policy analysis and public education.” Though it began as a research extension of Planned Parenthood, and was founded by a former president of the organization, the Guttmacher Institute severed ties with the chain of women’s health clinics in the late ’70s, following the death of its founder. In 1977, it officially became an independent, nonprofit corporation. Bomberger argues, however, that “the cord is still attached.” “So be aware when you’ve been Guttmacher’d,” writes Bomberger

Florida Libertarian Party plans protest of TSA this Sunday, alleging abuse

Weeks after announcing its campaign against what they say are sexual abuses by TSA agents, the Libertarian Party of Florida is holding a rally to protest “warrantless and random searches at airport checkpoints.” # The rally will be held this Sunday outside of the Daytona Florida Sheriffs Association convention. According to a press release, the goal of the protest will be “to encourage sheriffs to uphold the Fourth Amendment, as well as Florida statutes on molestation, as they apply to TSA employees.” # Those organizing the protest are encouraging attendees to bring signs urging sheriffs to confront the TSA. # In a July 4 email sent to all 67 of Florida’s sheriffs, Florida Libertarian Party chairman Adrian Wyllie called for the arrest of state TSA agents, writing that the seizure of travelers’ items are a direct violation of the United States Constitution.Wyllie went on to write that searches known as “Enhanced Pat Downs” are “clearly within the definition of felony sexual battery.” # “As Sheriff, you have the absolute duty to enforce the law uniformly and without prejudice,” wrote Wyllie.
